Pretty in white!

One of the first things I wanted to change when we moved back into our apartment on the park in Germany was the color of our walls. We already had a neutral color, but I wanted to go back to my tried and true favorite color: WHITE! I love how white walls freshen up a space and makes it feel larger and taller than it actually is. Plus, it's the perfect backdrop to start layering accessories, wall art, and curtains.

The journey to get to these white walls took longer than we anticipated. The first layer of paint we bought didn't grab to the walls as well as we wanted, so we had to repaint it using a different brand of paint. For those interested, the top half of our walls are painted in flat white and the bottom with a semi-gloss white.

Before we got started with painting the walls, we had to finish our board and batten wall paneling installation. I stress 'had to' because we started this project several years before. You know those projects that stay in an indefinite 'in-process' state? Well, that was this project for us. We completed the wall paneling in our entry, kitchen and dining room area, but never got to finish the living room. It's horrible to think back at how long this stayed unfinished! I love the character it brings to our open living space and wish we had finished this project earlier! :)

Here are a few more shots of our space. Next step is to install curtains and hang our pictures on our wall! Step by step, our space is coming together!

Until next time,
